This doctor was very honest and explained alot to me before and after my laryngoscopy / vocal cord biopsy . . My only fault was the care immediately after surgery of very limited information from ward staff Post op. There was no beds so I was put in gynaecological ward for an hour as I spent most of my time in recovery a no beds available . Sent home with no information but thanks to google I learned what to do after .. nurses were trying to talk to me after procedure but thankfully I had my daughter with me who told them I'm not allowed to speak . The ENT department are most friendly and supportive during the wait . . Was not the ENT departments fault at all but whomever sorted the bed side of things for an in stay I was pout within a couple of hours as no where for me .. pre op I was kept in a reception area waiting to go down where people were attending appointments eating and drinking when we were nil by mouth . .

I saw Mr Dessouky with sinusitis, which had been very bad for over 2 years. It was cleared up with Flixonase nasal spray and NeilMed nasal rinse. Now I only need the nasal rinse morning and evening to keep the sinuses in good condition. I am very pleased with this outcome because it involves no drugs and Mr Dessouky was very supportive of this minimum intervention approach.

My initial reason for being referred to this doctor was an ongoing problem of snoring but I was also experiencing some swallowing problems and regurgitation of food occasionally. Mr Dessouky was very thorough in questioning me and did a throat examination by inserting a camera through the nasal passage. He said he could see acid marks on my throat and organised a Barium meal scan at the Whittington. The appointment came through in about 3 weeks. It was a very easy procedure and I was invited to look at the results on the screen. It transpired that I had a pocket or pouch in my throat. I went back to see Mr Dessouky today and again he gave me a very clear and simple explanation of what I had and then went on to say what my options would be. The first step is to be referred back to the Whittington Hospital to discuss the matter further. I highly recommend Mr Dessouky. He saw symptoms which he felt needed investigation and, through the scan he requested, he has established that there is an issue which needs to be addressed. Through the conversations that have taken place I feel I have a good understanding of what is wrong and what action might be taken.
